Whether you traveled or stayed home, I hope the long summer has given you and your children some opportunities for adventures and events that were positive and recharging.  We are looking forward to hearing all about it when the children return!

Due to this year's unique calendar that accommodated so many construction projects throughout the district, Grandview will not be hosting it's traditional Ice Cream Social Open House event.  Recently, our building has been used for other classes, events, meetings, and organizations not typically scheduled here because the other schools were under construction.  In order to give staff the time they need to prepare for your children, we will have to reconsider the Ice Cream Social for the fall of 2019.

Instead, we want to invite parents & guardians of 1st-5th graders to come on Tuesday, September 11 in the evening for "Academic Orientation" with our staff.  This will give you a chance to meet with teachers and learn about them as individuals, the upcoming year, and what we can do together to help each child succeed.  Each teacher will present at 5:30, 5:55 and 6:20 giving you 20 minutes per class visit and five minutes to switch classrooms if you have more than one child.  I will stick around from 6:45 - 7:00 to answer any general questions you may have.

Coach Klatt, Mr. Maley, Mrs. Saunders and Mrs. Sapinoro are also working on some great opportunities for your children if in the event you choose to bring them that evening.  In the past, we've encouraged kiddos to stay home so parents/guardians could listen closely to the teachers.  Yet, wanting you to be here and not have to worry about what to do with the students - our team will host a variety of Patriot Day themed games, activities and music to engage students while we also commemorate Patriot Day's impact on our country.

Thank you for flexibility, patience and your continuing support of school, or district and our community as we grow.

Mr. Grubbs
