Pick-Up and Drop-Off Procedures

If using the main parking lot entrance, please either:

  • Park in the parking lot and walk your child to the front using the cross walks
  • Pull forward as far as possible in the lane and allow your child to exit the passenger side of the vehicle to the sidewalk.

If using the side streets, please remember to:

  • Direct your child to the nearest crosswalk
  • Have your child exit the passenger side of the vehicle
  • Avoid stopping on Grand in front of the entrance to the parking lot

Please role model patience to your students as we realize the traffic can back up on days when the weather is not as conducive for walking or biking. We have many families sharing the roads in front of our school and our goal is to keep everyone safe.

Attendance Policy

Students are expected to be present and engaged in learning every school day. Regular and on-time attendance is an important factor in student achievement and success. It is the obligation and responsibility of parents/guardians to ensure that every child 6 - 17 years old attends public school during each school year (C.R.S. 22-33-104).

Excused Absences

Students may miss school for illness or injury, pre-arranged absences that cannot be taken care of outside school hours, work-study programs, or a school-sponsored activity.

If your child will be absent from school please notify the school in one of the following two ways:

  • Preferred Method: Request absences via Campus Parent to notify school staff of an expected student absence. Select "More" from the navigation. Next, select "Absence Requests." Then, fill out the form and submit.
  • Call the school attendance line at 970-686-8605 by 8:30 a.m. Please include the following information in your message: child’s name, teacher, date of absence(s), and reason for absence.

Unexcused Absences

A student with four or more unexcused absences from school in any one month or 10 unexcused absences during any school year will be considered “habitually truant.” We will notify the parents / guardians in writing of the absences, and, in partnership with parents / guardians, will develop a plan to address attendance issues and discuss consequences for further unexcused absences.

For more information on attendance, visit Board Policy JE.

Tardiness

A child is considered tardy if they arrive after 8 a.m. If a child arrives after 9:30 a.m., they are considered absent for one-half day. If a child leaves prior to 1 p.m., they are considered absent for one-half day. If a child is tardy, they must check in at the front office before going to class.
