This is an exciting and important year for our students. In fourth grade we are gaining independence and building upon those foundational skills taught in the previous years. Our fourth graders will work hard focusing on creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, which will help our students develop their collaboration, communication, and technology skills. In reading, our fourth graders will focus on comprehension skills to understand a variety of texts. We will learn advanced foundational skills in reading and writing.  

• As an author, the students will respond to reading with writing and will explore several genres.  They will write multi-paragraph pieces and will publish them in several ways incorporating technology.
• In math, students will multiply and divide with larger numbers.  We will explore fractions and decimals and multi-step word problems.  
• Throughout the year, the social studies students will explore a variety of concepts including Colorado History, government, geography, and map skills. In science the focus is on the human body, energy, force and motion, geology, and animal adaptations.
